Located in a scenic and wooded area of upstate New York, Ridge House is a 1,861 square foot retreat designed for a novelist client. In line with the natural surroundings, the house — which follows the ridge line of the Hudson River Valley — camouflages itself seamlessly into the hillside. Natural, raw materials such as cedar, bluestone and formed concrete were utilized to evoke an elegant rustic environment. From the interior, the framed window openings capture panoramic views of the lush valley. Personal touches — including antique furniture and walls of books — round out the space’s warm, tranquil atmosphere.
